The friendly between Australia and world champions France on Sunday has come under further threat with news the Socceroo players are unhappy with their match fees.

They are threatening not to play unless they get more money.

The players want a 50 per cent share of the $4 million Australia will get if they make it to the World Cup finals in Korea and Japan.

They are also asking for a $5 million pay-off for the game against France and the World Cup qualifiers against the South America representatives.

Soccer Australia chairman Ian Knop will meet the players in Melbourne this week with a plea to put the honour of playing for Australia before any commercial concerns.

"We need to address this issue quickly," Knop told the Sydney Daily Telegraph. "I'm hopeful we will have an agreement in place before the kick-off against France.

"We will do nothing to jeopardise that game. We have some good ideas to put to the players, some of whom are millionaires, about putting something back into the game and developing it at junior and international level".
