Lichfield - A British football fan was celebrating a £500,000 betting windfall last night after Bayern Munich were crowned European champions. The unnamed fan staked just 30p on a 15-event accumulator last August.
Bookmaker William Hill said the same man, whose winning odds of 1,666,666-toone are believed to be a world record, scooped £157,000 from a £2.50 accumulator in 1999 when Manchester United won the Champions League final.
The mystery winner, in his 50s and from Lichfield, Staffordshire correctly predicted this season's champions of the top five English leagues and the three lower Scottish divisions.
He also backed Leicester to win the rugby union Premiership, Surrey to win last season's county cricket championship, Gloucester to win rugby's NatWest Trophy and Arsenal, Hibernian and Falkirk to win their matches last August.
