A Cork man, convicted of having almost £4 million worth of cannabis resin in his possession for the purpose of selling or supplying, was sentenced to six years' imprisonment at Clonmel circuit court.
Billy Loftus (23), Oakdale, Ballyvolane, Cork, pleaded guilty to the charge before Judge Joseph Matthews.
The drugs were seized in January 1998 at Kilcoran Wood outside Cahir, Co Tipperary, and Fermoy, Co Cork, after a Garda surveillance operation.
