To create your own home page:
1. Decide where you want to build. A list of sites that offer free webspace is available at www.yahoo.com under the "business", "companies", "Internet", "Web services" headings.
2. Register as a member. This usually requires filling in some online forms and sometimes a password must be mailed to a pre-existing email account.
3. Log-on and decide on a page layout. Pick a colour scheme, add text, images, and perhaps some favourite links. Those who want something a bit special will need to pick up basic HTML (hypertext mark-up language) skills. Don't be intimated by the jargon as the basic tags (commands inserted into the text) are easy to learn. There are lots of online tutorials, including: www.hotwired.com/webmonkey/html/ and www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/General/Internet/WWW/HTMLPrimer.html
4. To upload pages already created, look for advanced or file-manager section. Clicking on a "browse" or "upload" button should open a dialogue box to select files to transfer to the new website.
5. Visit your own Web address and check the way it looks and that all the links are working.
6. Add the address to your email signature and it's house-warming time.
