IFA leaders have agreed with the Garda that only 300 tractors will be allowed into the centre of Dublin tomorrow in the culmination of the week-long countrywide protest.
The tractor protest will be broken down into six convoys and will be accompanied by motorcycle gardaí in each case. A Garda helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft will also oversee the operation.
The six tractor convoys will approach the capital from the direction of Ashbourne, Dunshaughlin and Swords, to the north-west and north of the city; Maynooth and Naas, to the west and south-west; and Bray, to the south-east.
Individual convoys will assemble at their respective centres in plenty of time to facilitate smooth progress with minimum disruption to traffic into Merrion Square, where they will arrive between 10 a.m. and 11.30 a.m.
Tractors from Ashbourne will approach the city through Finglas, down Prospect Road and into Glasnevin, Whitworth Road, along the Royal Canal, the North Circular Road, Amiens Street, Matt Talbot Bridge, City Quay and Westland Row. From Bray, the convoy will leave the M11 at Loughlinstown, on to Stillorgan Road, Upper Leeson Street, Fitzwilliam Street.
From Dunshaughlin it will go through the Blanchardstown bypass on to the Navan Road, New Cabra Road, North Circular Road, Amiens Street etc. From Maynooth it will leave the M4 for the Lucan bypass, the Con Colbert Road, on to the Suir Road beside the Grand Canal, Haddington Road to Lower Mount Street.
From Naas it will travel to the Long Mile Road to Crumlin, turning alongside the canal at Parnell Road, to Haddington Road and Lower Mount Street.
From Swords, the convoy will leave the M1 for the M32 (Malahide Road), into Fairview, Matt Talbot Bridge, Westland Row, Merrion Square.
