AN 18-YEAR old woman charged in connection with the death of her brother, who was stabbed at a house party, has been remanded on continuing bail.
Caroline Brennan, Navan Road, Dublin, is charged with assault causing serious harm to her brother Michael (22).
Mr Brennan died at a party at his uncle’s house at Barrack Street, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny, shortly after 3.30am on December 30th.
He was discovered with a knife wound to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.
Ms Brennan appeared before Castlecomer District Court yesterday.
State solicitor Gerry Meaney told Judge William Harnett that more serious charges were likely but that the DPP’s office was awaiting “more detailed reports” from the Deputy State Pathologist.
Mr Meaney said there appeared to be “some delay in toxicology reports being issued” and asked for the case to be adjourned for one month.
Judge Harnett agreed to his application on the basis of forensic delays and agreed to allow more time for the book of evidence to be served. He remanded Ms Brennan on continuing bail to appear at Castlecomer District Court on April 20th.
