Irish sports-ground surfacing company SIS IRL has today announced it has signed a new contract in Angola for $11.2 million (€7.7 million).
The deal is to provide maintenance services and equipment to all of the African Championship training facilities including three first division clubs, new synthetic pitches and upgrading of pitches in the capital Luanda.
This contract announced today follows an earlier contract of $16.4 million awarded to SIS unveiled in June of this year. The company finished construction of all of the stadium pitches for the African Championships (COCAN 2010) and is now working on completing the training centres over the next three weeks.
Commenting, Chief executive George Mullan, who signed the contract in Luanda earlier this week, said: "The confidence that COCAN has shown in SIS is demonstrated in this new contract . . . SIS has a staff of 18 people in Angola since early July and this is a tribute to our staff and the excellent work they have carried out."
The African Championships begin on January 10th and end on January 31st with the final played at the new stadium in the capital Luanda.
SIS IRL has supplied new pitches this summer to Real Madrid, FC Porto, Sporting Lisbon, Shaktar Donetsk, and Hampden Park, and the national stadium in Copenhagen
