The Government has failed to address the issue of illegal fireworks and children now risk serious injury, Sinn Féin clamed today.

Mr Mark Daly, SF councillor for South Dublin, said the city was ringing with the sound of illegal fireworks in the run up to Halloween. The lives of young people were at risk as a result, he said.
He suggested the explosive devices be legalised and sold by responsible dealers "instead of off the back of a lorry or from under someone's coat".
"Regulating the distribution of fireworks and controlling the types of fireworks that are imported is the only measure that will ensure that our youth can enjoy Halloween without danger," he added.
