Manchester United will miss David Beckham but the club will cope without him, according to the English champions' captain Roy Keane.
Beckham, 28, agreed to join Real Madrid yesterday in a deal worth €35million, ending his glittering career at the club he joined as a schoolboy.
"It's unfortunate because he's been a top player for United but these things happen in football and you just have to get on with it," Keane told Sky Sports.
"The manager (Alex Ferguson) has sold top players before, (Dwight) Yorke, (Andy) Cole, (Eric) Cantona, (Mark) Hughes, but you know he will always do what is best for Manchester United.
"When players like Becks leave you are going to miss them, not just on the pitch but because he's a good lad," Keane added.
"Sometimes in football as a player you have to be selfish, to look after yourself.
"United might decide to sell me one day, probably not for Stg£20million, maybe £2million!".
