A young man remained in a critical condition in intensive care in the Mater Hospital, Dublin, last night after being shot in the back on Thursday night. Gardai in Tallaght are appealing for witnesses to the shooting of the man, named locally as Mr John Fennell (26), who worked as a shopping centre security guard.
Gardai said it was not clear if the attack was related to his work as a security guard. He is believed to have suffered severe spinal injuries.
