Shelbourne remain top of the Eircom Premier League tonight after earning a point against Drogheda United in O2 Park this evening.

Danny O'Connor struck an equaliser for the homeside two minutes after Jason Byrne had given the visitors a first half lead.

Drogheda move into sixth position, just behind St Patrick's Athletic who recorded their first win of the campaign, with a 4-1 victory over Derry City in Richmond Park.

Goals from Paul Osam, Barry Prenderville, Charles Mbabazi Livingstone and new signing Jimmy Lee Jones swept aside the home fans' fears of another poor result after a McBride penalty had sent Derry into a 25th minute lead.

In Belfield UCD were condemned to yet another defeat despite a gutsy fightback and a second half goal from Robbie Martin.

The damage had been done in the 16th when UCD keeper Pat Jennings fumbled a fifteen yard drive from Vinnie O'Sullivan, directing into the path of a grateful Gary O'Neill, who finished with little fuss.

Waterford then doubled their lead just before half time when UCD again conspired to make things difficult for themselves. A long clearance from Kevin Waters left Jennings and Hugh Davey in a spot of bother that resulted in the defender heading the ball into his own net.

UCD struck back through Martin in the 52nd minute but struggled to create any real clear cut chances to level the tie.
