Ms Sharon Corr, of the Dundalk band The Corrs, was married at the weekend to Mr Gavin Bonner, a barrister, at a private ceremony in the Church of St John, Cratloe, Co Clare, a village six miles from Limerick.
Ms Corr wore an Elspeth Gibson halter-neck gown. Clare fiddler Martin Hayes provided the music at the 18th-century church, and the ceremony was performed by Father Malachy Murphy, a family friend.
The wedding breakfast was held at the nearby five-star Dromoland Castle hotel.
Burren lamb was the main course for 200 guests who included the comedian Patrick Kielty. Music was later provided by The Classic Beatles, a tribute band, and a traditional ceili was also held. The couple remained at Dromoland until mid-afternoon yesterday before departing for a three-week honeymoon at an unspecified location.
Ms Corr, the violinist with the group, is the eldest of the three girls in the band. Her sisters, Caroline and Andrea, were bridesmaids.
A spokesman for Ms Corr said the wedding party had been a quiet family affair for the couple.
"They turned down offers from magazines to do exclusives," he said.
Meanwhile, it emerged yesterday that a Limerick priest will next month marry 007 superstar Pierce Brosnan and Ms Keely Shaye Smith in the Quiet Man church in the grounds of Ashford Castle Hotel, Co Mayo.
The ceremony, on Saturday, August 4th, will be performed by Mgr John Fleming, Rector of the Pontifical Irish College on Via Degli Ibernesi in Rome.
Last year Brosnan, who is widowed, and his fiancee had to postpone their wedding twice after his 17-year-old son Sean, from his marriage to his late wife Cassandra, sustained spinal injuries in a traffic accident.
