Shannon Aerospace today announced it had secured a maintenance deal with British Airways (BA) related to a new service announced yesterday.
The contract is for extended-range twin-engine Operational Performance Standard checks on 11 BA A318 aircraft per week.
The maintenance relates to the launch this week of a new transatlantic business class-only service by British Airways from London City Airport to New York, via Shannon.
The BA flights will operate once a day until October 14th, when the service will move to twice daily.
Shannon will be used for refuelling on the journey from London, but not on the return leg. The length of the runway at London City Airport does not permit the aircraft to take off with a full fuel load.
British Airways joins Continental Airlines, US Airways, and Delta Air Lines, which use the Shannon Aerospaces's maintenance, repair, and overhaul service.
