`Barry White saved my life" - so sang The Fun Lovin' Criminals on their 1998 hit, Love Unlimited. Now, the Walrus Of Love himself (right) is coming to Dublin's Point Theatre on Thursday and, even if he doesn't save your life, his larger-than-lurve persona will definitely make your night.
Forget Chef and Theophilus P. Wildebeest - White is the original sex-mad soulster, heavy breathing his way through such steamy 1970s hits as Can't Get Enough Of Your Love Babe, I'm Qualified To Satisfy and It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next To Me. White grew up in the tough neighbourhoods of East LA, singing and playing organ in church, then getting jailed for stealing 300 tyres. These days, White doesn't need any more spare tyres, but he's still singing his organ-related soul anthems to an appreciative audience which just can't get enough of his luurrrve, baby. Support is by Earth, Wind & Fire, whose classic disco hit, September, has recently enjoyed a club revival.
