An 82 year old man died when his car collided with another on the dual carriageway at Loughlinstown, Co Dublin, just after midnight on Saturday. Mr James Cosgrave of Fairview was dead on arrival at Loughlinstown Hospital.
He was one of seven people killed in weekend road accidents. Five people who died on Friday were named yesterday. They were Imelda Donlon (64), Raheen, Co Limerick; Sean Desmond, in his 60s, Slieverua, Co Kilkenny; Kieran Fanning (19), Coole, Co Westmeath, and Adrian Fitzsimons (19), Sliabh Boy, Cnstlepollard, Co Westmeath; and James Walsh (28), Ballyduff, Cloyne, Co Cork. A woman was killed and four other people injured yesterday evening when the car in which they were travelling collided with a bus in Co Kilkenny. The crash happened at Ardra, near Castlecomer, at around 5.30 p.m.
The occupants of the car were taken to St Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny, where the 22 year old woman, who has not yet been named, later died.
