A glance at the week that was
We’re in the running
It was a fine week for Irish athletics, with Olive Loughnanetaking silver in the 20km walk at the World Championships in Berlin, and our sprinters making semi-finals and finals in a way that Irish runners haven't done before. David Gilickwas running in last night's 400m final, and Derval O'Rourke's fourth place in the 100m hurdles was a triumph – even if it was bittersweet. "I have to be happy. Incredibly happy," O'Rourke said, despite her frustration at missing out on a medal. "I'll have a tiny pity party, but after that I'll be very happy."
