House that cost a mint
The Dublin artist Frank Buckley has been building a house using €1.4 billion of decommissioned notes from the National Mint. In an empty office building in Smithfield, Buckley has been using bricks of money and shredded bills. “I’m sitting in my studio with my feet up on a box of €4 million of shredded notes [thinking], God, this is just paper,” says Buckley. “I just feel there needs to be a debate on this. Kids in school need to come down and see.”
