Sarajevo - Bosnian Serbs tore down a symbolic wall in Sarajevo yesterday which they had erected to protest at the arrest of a Serb suspect accused of killing a Bosnian government official.
A protest leader, Mr Dragan Savic, said the Serbs decided to knock down the 10-metre long brick wall in a Sarajevo suburb after holding talks with international police monitors. "What we are doing today is showing understanding towards the international community regarding the Vasic case," Mr Savic told reporters. Serbs erected the wall on Tuesday to express their anger over the arrest of Mr Goran Vasic, a Serb, by Muslim-Croat federation police last week.
Mr Vasic has been charged with the murder of Hakia Turajlic, deputy prime minister of Bosnia's wartime government.
