Each of the Departments in the Executive will have committees of 11 Assembly members to "advise and assist" the Ministers, effectively providing checks and balances.
The two most senior figures in each committee will be the chair and deputy chair, who were elected for each committee last night. The 10 chairs and deputy chairs are:

Regional Development (Minister: Mr Peter Robinson, DUP) - Mr Dennis Haughey (SDLP), chair; Mr Alan McFarland (UUP), deputy.
Agriculture and Rural Development (Minister, Ms Brid Rodgers, SDLP) - The Rev Ian Paisley (DUP), chair; Mr George Savage (UUP), deputy.
Enterprise, Trade and Investment (Minister, Sir Reg Empey, UUP) - Mr Pat Doherty (Sinn Fein), chair; Mr Sean Neeson (Alliance), deputy.
Social Development (Minister, Mr Nigel Dodds, DUP) - Mr Fred Cobain (UUP), chair; Ms Michelle Gildernew (Sinn Fein) deputy.
