Talks on redundancy terms for Semperit workers are due to begin at the Labour Relations Commission early next week, writes Padraig Yeates. The company is offering a £15 million package which will give the 650 workers involved four weeks' pay for each year of service, in addition to statutory entitlements.
Meanwhile, the local Labour TD, Mr Joe Costello, has criticised the German parent company, Continental AG, for failing to inform the company's European Works Council that it planned to close the Dublin plant. The council met on Tuesday, September 17th, the day before the closure of Semperit was announced.
