A group called the Alliance of Self Employed Taxpayers (ASET) is seeking a meeting with the Minister for Social Welfare, Mr De Rossa, over issues relating to equality in the State's contributory pension scheme.
Mr John Donnelly, president of the Irish Farmers' Association and spokesman for the alliance, has said large numbers of self employed taxpayers are unable to qualify for the State old age contributory pension because of inflexible eligibility requirements.
