Hollywood, Saturday.
A woman's determination to succeed in spite of the handicap of her sex lay behind the strange career of "Peter Stratford," who has just died at Oakland of tuberculosis. Miss Beth Rowland, a screen writer, has admitted that she was "Mrs Stratford." After a friendship of two years they were married at Kansas City in 1925. Soon afterwards, however, "Stratford" left for the Pacific coast owing to ill-health. "His" occupation as assistant to several well-known dramatists took "him" away for considerable periods of time, and Mrs Stratford never discovered the secret of "his" sex until a few months ago, when they finally parted. She states that "Stratford" came to Hollywood from New Zealand to seek her fortune on the films.
