An action by a security officer who fell through a ceiling of a Dunnes Stores premises while she was carrying out surveillance of the general ladies' fashion floor was settled at the High Court yesterday.

The settlement was announced on the second day of the action taken by Ms Mary Glennon (50), South Circular Road, Dublin.

She had sued Steadfast Security Ltd, a Dunnes Stores subsidiary, over her fall at Dunnes Stores, St Stephen's Green Shopping Centre, Dublin, on June 29th, 1993.

Ms Gleeson was said to have fallen 12-14 feet and to have suffered injuries to her back and right arm.

Liability was admitted at the outset of the case, and Mr Justice O'Donovan had been asked to assess damages only.

When the hearing resumed yesterday, the judge was told that Ms Glennon was carrying out surveillance of the general ladies' fashion floor and not just the changing rooms. She was over the changing rooms at the time of her fall, looking at the fashion floor.

Following discussions between lawyers for both sides yesterday afternoon, the judge was told the action had been settled and could be struck out.

Mr Justice O'Donovan made the requested order.
