A second man has died as a result of the explosion at the Tarbert ESB plant in Kerry earlier this month.
Mr Michael Healy (48), from the Tarbert area, died this evening from his injuries at Cork University Hospital, where he was being treated for burns.
He remained critical in hospital since the accident on July 3rd in the switchgear room in an upper floor of the plant.
Mr Patrick McCrohan (38) Doon, Tralee, died in Cork University Hospital shortly after the accident. A third man, Mr Dermot Thornton (43), was injured.
ESB Chief Executive Mr Padraig McManus said today's death was a "devastating blow to us all".
"Everyone is ESB is shocked and saddened by the news and share in the grief experienced by the Healy family.
"I would like to offer our sympathy and solidarity. Both Michael and Patrick were well-liked and highly-valued employees who gave loyal service to the company. Their loss will be deeply felt by all of us."
The ESB and the Health and Safety Authority have launched investigations into the explosion. The Tarbert station generates enough electricity to power 700,000 houses.
