Ireland’s seasonally adjusted trade surplus for March 2002 was €3,170 million according to the Central Statistics Office.
The CSO said trade figures for the month showed little change with respect to February. Both imports and exports dropped slightly, exports to €8,113 million and imports to €4,943 million.
On an unadjusted basis, the value of exports in March 2002 was €8,983 million, up €61 million on March 2001, while the value of imports was €5,204 million, down €350 million on March 2001. The surplus was €3,779 million.
Initial indications for April 2002 show seasonally adjusted exports of €8,210 million (up €97 million on March) and imports of €5,150 million (up €207 million on March).
The corresponding unadjusted figures are exports of €7,600m, imports of €5,280 million and a surplus of €2,320 million.
