Divers in Longford are to begin a search for an elderly man who is believed to be missing.
It is understood the man, who is in his 70s, was last seen near the River Camlin in Longford town on Saturday.
Separately, in Cahir, Co Tipperary, a search for a man in his 40s who was believed to have fallen into the River Suir was abandoned yesterday because of bad weather.
Strong currents and poor visibility made it difficult for the Garda water unit who searched an area around the Castle Street Bridge in the town.
Rescue teams may put a boat out on the river later today to look for the missing man.
In Ennis, a man fell into the River Fergus in the town early yesterday morning. Dermot Molloy (21), Cahercalla Estate in Ennis, fell from the Club Bridge at about 2.20am after a night out in Ennis.
Efforts were made to rescue him, but it is believed he disappeared from view. The alarm was immediately raised and a search got under way at first light yesterday. A search of the river by the Garda water unit failed to find Mr Molloy.
