Gardai searching for the bodies of people murdered by the IRA have moved to the second bank of Oristown bog in Co Meath, indicated by the IRA as the location of the body of Mr Brendan Magrew. Excavation of the first bank was completed yesterday afternoon, but revealed nothing.
At Coghalstown Wood, Navan, contractors yesterday felled dozens of trees in an area pointed out as the location of the double grave of Mr Seamus Wright and Mr Kevin McKee. Work will begin today on lifting the roots of the trees, after which the entire area will be excavated.
Meanwhile, gardai yesterday completed their fifth day of digging at Templetown Beach, near Carlingford, in the search for the remains of Mrs Jean McConville. Members of the McConville family were visited at the site yesterday afternoon by the Church of Ireland Primate, Archbishop Robin Eames.
