Gardaí searching for missing Cork woman Ann Corcoran examined a house in Bandon today after a 49-year-old man was arrested this morning on suspicion of her murder.
Gardaí are understood to be conducting a forensic examination of the house in their search for the 60-year-old widow, who has been missing since January 18th.
The man was arrested in Bandon shortly before 8am. He is being held at Bandon Garda Station tonight under the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. He can be held for 24 hours before being charged or released.
It is understood two vehicles have been seized as part of the Garda investigation.
Ms Corcoran had lived alone at her farmhouse at Maulnaskimlehane, near Kilbrittain, since she was widowed in 2007.
She has not been seen since she met a friend at the Speckled Door pub near the Old Head of Kinsale on the evening of January 18th.
Her green Peugeot 206 car was found near a stream in Oldcastle, just outside Bandon, on January 28th.
Hundreds of volunteers have joined Ms Corcoran’s family and friends in a search operation.
Gardaí appealed for anyone who may have seen Ms Corcoran since January 18th to come forward. She is described as being five feet tall, of slim build, with short wavy brown hair and was normally well dressed.
