FA chief executive Adam Crozier said the English authority would have "no problem" with their Scottish counterparts using the home of Newcastle United as part of the bid for Euro 2008.
The Scottish Executive have ordered the SFA to launch a joint bid for the tournament with the Football Association of Ireland after concerns over funding for a solo bid.
But Crozier has warned that, although the use of St James' Park would be welcomed by the FA, UEFA must also agree. "The joint bid is a fantastic idea and England will certainly support it," said Crozier.
"We have already handed over a lot of work from Euro 96 to the SFA and offered any help we can. "If we were asked about the possibility of using Newcastle, I don't think we would have any problem with that but the decision would have to be taken with the agreement of UEFA," Crozier said. But Crozier also believes the SFA can take a giant step towards becoming co-hosts by proving their ability to stage major competitions when Hampden Park plays host to the Champions League final in May.
"If they can do a great job of hosting it, I am sure it will be noticed. Hampden Park has a lot of historical importance as well," said Crozier.
"UEFA likes to take the tournament to places where the fans are passionate."
