Michael Schumacher looks set to score his first pole position in four races this afternoon after dominating final practice for the European Grand Prix in Germany.
The four-time world champion finished over half-a-second ahead of his rivals on his home Nurburgring track.
Schumacher has not been on pole since the Spanish Grand Prix last April although that has not stopped him racking up a 43 point championship lead after winning six of the opening eight races this campaign.
McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen was his closest challenger on the reconfigured track this morning as the young Finn split the Ferrari duo with Rubens Barrichello third quickest.
Barrichello was almost 0.7 secs slower than his team leader as he finished just ahead of Germany's Nick Heidfeld in the Ferrari-powered Sauber.
Ralf Schumacher clocked the fifth fastest time in his Williams-BMW - but over a second off the pace - from Mika Salo who was a promising sixth for Toyota Racing.
