THE Prince of Wales visited the Co Derry town of Limavady when he opened the new extension to Limavady High School yesterday. The high school is next door to Limavady's main Catholic secondary school, St Mary's.
As the pupils of St Mary's continued with their class work, the pupils of Limavady High School rolled out the red carpet for their royal visitor.
Mr Sean Bradley, headmaster of St Mary's, said his pupils could relate to the royal visit.
"Relationships between the two schools are very good. The schools are side by side in Irish Green Street, and for many years, through all the bad years of the troubles, there have been very - few, if any, incidents and both schools have a very healthy respect for each other.
"We had our own opening two years ago, and my pupils know that an official opening is a big day in the life of any school and they have sent their best wishes over to the pupils and staff - Limavady High," he said.
After the official opening, Prince Charles had a private meeting in Ballykelly army camp - with 200 officers and soldiers of the Royal Regiment of Wales. Last night he hosted a on board the royal yacht Britannia at Lisahally, near Derry.
