England midfielder Paul Scholes is set to sign a new long-term contract with premier league champions Manchester United before the end of the season.
"We have not concluded negotiations with Paul, but we are very hopeful of doing so," United's director of communications Paddy Haverson said today.
If he does sign, the 26-year-old would be the latest United player to tie his long-term future to the club this season after Andy Cole, Ryan Giggs and Jaap Stam.
Scholes, who joined United as a schoolboy, has scored 11 goals in 33 matches for his country.
