The Irish woman with a suspected case of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) virus has been released from Waterford Regional Hospital.
She was released last night "following test results and based on clinical advice", the South Eastern Health Board (SEHB) said, adding she is being monitored at home by public health doctors. She is still being treated as a "suspect" case.
The IMO Public Health Doctors' Strike Committee agreed to allow doctors to leave the picket lines to do follow-up contact tracing and monitoring.
The woman had recently returned to Ireland on a flight from Toronto when she became aware of a number of flu-like symptoms associated with the virus, including a high temperature and a cough.
She contacted her GP on her return, but, according to SEHB, it was a number of days before the health board was advised on Wednesday night of her condition.
