Passengers attempting to travel using only their driving licence as identification will no longer be admissible on domestic Ryanair flights.
From October 1st the company will only accept passports and National Identity Cards as valid forms of identification in a move it says is to “reduce confusion” over what documents passengers can use.
“There has been an increase in the number of passengers travelling without valid form of ID in certain areas, such as in Northern Ireland. Passengers are turning up at the airport with electoral register cards,” a spokesman for the airline said.
Ryanair stopped passengers using a driving licence for online check-in last May.
By law passengers are not required to present identification on domestic flights however, it is company policy for the airline.
