ARUSHA - The first Rwanda genocide trial was postponed for a month yesterday just one day after it opened. The judges at the frequently delayed international tribunal in Arusha, Tanzania, initially rejected a defence plea to drop charges of genocide against a Hutu, Mr Jean-Paul Akayesu, or postpone the trial. But the prosecutor interrupted to say he was still not ready. The judges reversed their earlier decision and postponed the trial for a month.
