RUC officers investigating the seventh fatal stabbing in Northern Ireland since Christmas have today arrested a man in connection with the murder of a man found dead yesterday.
20-year-old Martin Crozier was discovered in a west Belfast estate and is believed to have died from a single stab wound.
Mr Crozier, from the Poleglass estate on the outskirts of west Belfast, was found lying in Creeslough Park in the Lenadoon area just after 3am.
He got into a taxi with three girls outside a bar on the Falls Road between 2.30 a.m. and 3a.m., according to the RUC.
The RUC said today the taxi driver had made contact with detectives after a media appeal to trace him. It is believed Mr Crozier had been intending to spend the night at his brother's house in Lenadoon.
According to local sources he was making his way through the area when he was set upon by a group of youths.
It is believed he was getting the better of his attackers when someone produced a knife and stabbed him. As he slumped to the ground they ran off.
The killing brings to seven the number of people stabbed to death in Northern Ireland in domestic crimes since Christmas Eve. A number of other people have been seriously injured in stabbing incidents.
In each of the previous six cases, someone has since appeared in court charged with murder.
An eighth man found stabbed to death on Saturday morning is believed to have been murdered in an internal dispute involving the UDA.PA
