THE TAOISEACH'S address to a Joint Session of the United States Congress will be broadcast live on RTÉ television next Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Ahern will leave for Washington from Baldonnel on the Government jet on Tuesday afternoon. Before he leaves the Aer Corps will host a reception at the airport to mark his last official trip abroad.
The following morning the Taoiseach will be greeted on Capitol Hill in Washington by the speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, who issued the invitation to him to address the joint houses.
The address will take place at 11am local time (4pm Irish time), and will be close to an hour long.
