Shamrock Rovers tonight enjoyed the double pleasure of climbing to the top of the eircom League table and pooping the party of arch rivals Bohemians.

Tony Grant grabbed the only goal of the game to put a dampener on Dalymount Park's 100th Birthday celebrations. In truth it was no more than the visitors deserved after a night of dogged defending and pacey counter attacks.

After a dismal first half the match sprung to life six minutes after the break when Rovers' full-back Tommy Dunne raided down the left flank and sent a cross into the centre of the box.

Simon Webb attempted to chest it down but miscontrolled and the ball broke to Tony Grant who slid it past the keeper and into the net - though Sean Francis tried to claim it after getting a touch when the ball appeared to be already over the line.

Bohs piled forward for the remainder of the game in search of an equaliser but lacked the creativity to break down the Rovers defence.
