Rod Stewart has cancelled his show in Dublin due to an "extremely severe sore throat".

Last night’s gig at Lansdowne Road was postponed until tonight, but his doctor has ordered him to rest for another 24 hours, according to reports.

Promoters MCD have said that "Rod is extremely disappointed that this concert cannot be rescheduled but has stressed that every effort will be made to make it up to his Irish fans at some point in the very near future."

The concert cannot be rescheduled due to the lack of venue availability, according to MCD. "Every effort has been made by Rod Stewart and the promoters to reschedule this show", a spokesperson said, "but this has proved impossible."
