Former president Ms Mary Robinson will give the keynote address at Afri's fourth annual Hedge School at O'Connell Schools in Dublin this evening.
Afri is a non-governmental organisation that works to promote human rights in Ireland and the world, and the theme of this year's event is "Becoming global citizens in a world of conflict".
Mrs Robinson, former UN Commissioner for Human Rights, will be joined by Sociology Professor Emeritus at UCC Mr John Maguire, Trocaire Director Mr Justin Kilcullen and students from the 30 nations represented at the school.
Some of the questions that will be addressed at the event include how young people are being prepared to live in a diverse and multicultural society, how immigrants are coping with living in Ireland and whether their needs are met in the Irish educational system.
