A man who committed a series of robberies after being temporarily released from prison has been jailed for three years by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Brendan Iveagh (31) from St Audoen's Terrace, Dublin, was serving a two year sentence when given the temporary release. He failed to return to prison and robbed a number of shops of around £100 on dates in January and February.
Mr Luigi Rea, defending, said his client had no fixed abode at the time. He was back in custody serving his original sentence.
Judge Cyril Kelly noted Iveagh agreed to speak to gardai while he was in custody and admitted the offences, which were serious. He would review the three year sentence next June.
