Road deaths in Northern Ireland fell by 8.3 per cent last year, according to transport statistics released yesterday by the Northern Ireland Office.
There were 13 fewer deaths last year, down from 157 in 1994 to 144 in 1995. The number of people injured dropped by 3.1 per cent from 12,094 to 11,725 but the number of road accidents remained virtually unchanged - 6,792 last year, nine more than the previous year.
