July 11th, 2010A crash outside Clonmany, near Buncrana, Co Donegal, claimed the lives of seven men who were travelling in one car, and the 66-year-old driver of a second car. The seven men were Mark McLaughlin (21) of Ballinahone, Fahan; Paul Doherty (19) and Ciarán Sweeney (19) of Ballyliffen; PJ McLaughlin (21) of Rockstown, Burnfoot; James McEleney (23) of Minaduff, Clonmany; Eamonn McDaid (22) of Cruckaheeney, Buncrana; and Damien McLaughlin (21) of Umricam, Buncrana. The driver of the other car was Hugh Friel (66), from Dunaff, Clonmany.
March 1st, 2008Three men died after the car in which they were travelling veered off the road and into the sea near Dunboy Castle, Castletownbere. They were Colm Harrington (21), West End, Bere Island; Shane Kelly (20), Allihies, Co Cork; and Fintan O'Driscoll (17), Foildarrig, Castletownbere.
October 21st, 2006Four young men were killed in a head-on collision at Threemilehouse, Co Monaghan, and a fifth man died from his injuries on October 23rd. They were Dermot Thornton (21), Gary McCormick (20), Ciarán Hagan (20), Brian O'Neill (19) and John McQuillan (27).
February 18th, 2006Five people were killed when a car driven by Latvian man Danielius Abartis (23), crashed head-on into a white van outside Buncrana. Mr Abartis died instantly. The four others, who were travelling in the van, were Aija Porcika (38); her daughter Ginta Veite (19); Marita Kerpe (28); and Ricardas Bielskis (35).
October 8th, 2005Five people from Inishowen – Rochelle Peoples (22); David Steele (23); Gavin Duffy (21); Charlene O'Connor (21); and Darren Quinn (21) – died when their car was hit by a car driven by Brendan Henderson (50), from Derry. He later admitted dangerous driving in the crash and was jailed.
March 19th, 2005Alice Mullan and Kelly Doherty, both 20, were killed in a crash at Redcastle, Co Donegal. The car was driven by their friend Louise Cantwell (24), who was found guilty by a jury of dangerous driving causing death.
