The former Taoiseach, Mr Albert Reynolds, has settled a High Court libel action against Radio Tara Ltd for an undisclosed sum and costs.

Mr Reynolds, then of Sycamore, Hazeldene, Anglesea Road, Dublin, brought his action against the radio station, trading as Atlantic 252, over a report broadcast in a news bulletin on December 7th, 1994, concerning him as Taoiseach and in which there was reference to a case involving a paedophile priest.

Yesterday, Mr Shane English, for Mr Reynolds, told Mr Justice Johnson the matter could be struck out and money lodged in court could be paid out to Mr Reynolds's solicitors, Patrick J. Groarke and Son, in part satisfaction of the claim.
