Review of Professor Green at Oxegen last night.
Atmosphere
It's becoming a bit clichéd at this stage, but the crowd at Professor Green was, predictably, a young one. All the better to enjoy music that comes from, so far, the rapper's only album, last year's Alive Till I'm Dead, along with the odd track from his upcoming release, which received lukewarm applause. It was the big hitters the punters really wanted though, and the Prof delivered in true London-boy style, powering through Just Be Good to Green and the INXS sampler, Need You Tonight before finishing on his ode to Katie Price, Monster.
High
The delightfully familiar chords of Just be Good to Green along with soaring vocals from the female singer in Green's entourage.
Lows
At certain points it seemed as if the man formerly known as Stephen Paul Manderson was going through the motions, rapping only on the opening three words of each sentence. Thankfully, this odd bout of apparent laziness only lasted one track.
Quote
"Is that a . . . tattoo? On his . . . neck?" Ah, Ireland, you've come so far, and yet . . .
Overall
No filler - but not quite killer, either.
