Rangoon - Burma's military government eased tight restrictions on two senior opposition leaders yesterday, but Ms Aung San Suu Kyi, figurehead of the pro-democracy movement, remained under de facto house arrest.
A government spokesman said most curbs on National League for Democracy (NLD) chairman Mr Aung Shwe and vice-chairman Mr Tin Oo were lifted on the eve of a visit by UN special envoy Mr Razali Ismail. They will be free to leave their homes, although they are expected to be kept confined to Rangoon.
