A growing number of historical resources are now available on CD-ROM, aimed at historians and those researching family histories.

Eneclann, a TCD campus company (www.eneclann.ie) has produced a CD-ROM version of an 1848 petition that called for William Smith O'Brien's death sentence to be commuted, with the names, addresses and occupations of more than 80,000 signatories. It also publishes an index of more than 70,000 Irish wills from 1484-1858.

As well as the CD-ROM of Lewis's topographical dictionaries, Family Tree Maker publishes lists of immigrants to North America, Irish tithe books and Huguenot settlers; all are available from TWR Computing.
