Nationalists in north Belfast are planning a counter demonstration tomorrow night in protest at an Orange march through their area.

Members of the Cliftonville Antrim Road Concerned Residents' Association (CARCRA) yesterday handed a letter and petition in to the Northern Secretary, Sir Patrick Mayhew, and the political parties at Stormont Castle, calling for the parade to be rerouted.

The RUC has said that the march, which passes through the Cliftonville and Duncairn Gardens districts, will almost certainly go ahead.

The residents have applied for permission to hold their protest at Roe Street and Clifton park Avenue.
