GARDAI in Co Monaghan have said that arms they found on Thursday morning at Scotshouse appear to be republican paramilitary equipment.
The find includes two sawn-off shotguns and ammunition for them, pistols and rifles. Two circuit boards used for detonating high-explosive devices and clamps for telescopic rifle sights were among the cache.
The arms were in a black drum in an embankment beside a road and appeared to have been recently buried. Scotshouse is just five miles from the Armagh border.
