A rent investigation officer with Dublin Corporation has told the High Court that he was in a stressful and agitated state after evictions. Mr John Glynn (63), of Ashford, Co Wicklow, is suing the corporation for damages on the basis that he has emotional suffering, nervous stress and anxiety resulting from his work. The claim is denied.
In evidence yesterday, Mr Glynn said he never knew in any given eviction situation what to expect. People became very volatile in the event of losing their home, he said. After evictions, he would be in a stressful and agitated state. In 1994, he was beginning to get heavy sweats and shortness of breath and was on medication.
He said there was no other job to move to but if somebody had retired, he would have moved. The hearing continues next week.
